TWO PROGRAMS OF STAGED READINGS

Phoenicia, NY... The STS Playhouse and Woodstock Fringe present two programs of staged readings of new short plays written by members of the Woodstock Fringe Playwrights Unit. Each of two programs of short plays will be presented twice at the STS Playhouse in Phoenicia, NY. Program 1 will be presented on Sat Aug 16 at 8pm and Sun Aug 17 at 2pm. Program 2 will be presented Sat Aug 23 at 8pm and Sun Aug 24 at 2pm. The Woodstock Fringe Playwrights Unit is a playwriting workshop and laboratory, now in its ninth year. The core belief of the Playwrights unit is: The act of creation is an act of courage. A group of playwrights, composers, lyricists, book writers and actors assemble every other week to share and develop new work. The culture of the Playwrights Unit is one of community, nourishment, honor, mutual respect, and professionalism. Eleven Playwrights Unit playwrights will be represented in the two Programs of new short plays. A splendid company of actors, most local to the Hudson Valley, have come together to read this eclectic and exciting collection of new plays. The plays are funny, sad, outrageous, moving , witty and literate.

STS Playhouse was founded in 1976 and has mounted over 70 full-scale productions. Its current home on 10 Church Street was built in 1887 by the International Order of Odd Fellows and is now a charming air conditioned 150-seat theatre. Woodstock Fringe was founded in 2003 by Wallace Norman. Woodstock Fringe was in residence at the Byrdcliffe Theatre for a decade where Wallace Norman produced the Woodstock Fringe Festival of Theatre & Song.
