Eltinge
by David Colbert
Thursday,
September 3, 8pm
Julian Eltinge
(1881-1941) was America’s foremost cross-dressing
performer and the highest paid actor in the country.
A veteran of the Broadway stage, Vaudeville and
silent films, Eltinge was world famous yet
lived to see his career destroyed by prejudice and
discrimination. Old becomes young, student becomes
teacher, and yesterday and today blend in this new
two-person musical play. For more information

Going to Vietnam
by
Victoria Sullivan
Sunday, September 6, 2pm
A contemporary American woman travels to Vietnam as
an exotic escape from her sense of meaninglessness
at home. There she meets a man who seduces her with
his casual charm. But is he dangerous? He seems to
know a little too much about the dark side of
Saigon. Meanwhile, back in the States we meet a
Vietnam vet who hangs out at the local bar drinking
beer, writing poetry, and obsessing about the
unfairness of life. This play explores how people
both seek and flee their fates.
Swimming with Esther
by
Mindy Pfeffer
Sunday, September 6, 2pm
Named (to her dismay) after Esther Williams, our
main character dreams of swimming but is terrified
of the water. After much trepidation she bravely
takes the plunge and hires hunky but shy swim coach
Buzby to help her. Things go swimmingly until her
sleep is disturbed by nightly visitations from the
iconic Esther Williams from the movies, and by
swimming and singing puppets. Where will all this
leave Esther in her aquatic quest? Landlocked?
Waterlogged?
