THURSDAY THRU SUNDAY, 8/18 thru 8/28 THEATRE

WOODSTOCK FRINGE presents "'Art'" by Yasmina Reza. Winner of the Tony Award and Olivier Award for best play, ‘Art’, is "fiendishly clever… "wildly funny, naughtily provocative, sophisticated, stylish, and moving - a marriage of Moliere and Woody Allen." – Newsweek. How much would you pay for a white painting, five feet by four, all white with white diagonal lines? ‘Art’ revolves around three friends - Serge, Marc, and Yvan - who find their 15-year relationship tested when Serge buys a white-on-white painting for a large sum of money. Marc and Yvan's reactions stoke tensions and the fireworks begin. ‘Art’ escalates into an examination of friendship - its demands, obligations, and, ultimately, its rewards. The tension erupts into "non-stop crossfire of cracking language, serious issues of life and art expressed in outbursts that sound like Don Rickles with a degree from the Sorbonne." - Newsweek. Will this friendship survive? The brilliantly versatile cast, Wallace Norman, James Prendergast, and Lou Trapani, is directed by WOODSTOCK FRINGE favorite Nicola Sheara. Eight Performances. Byrdcliffe Theater, Upper Byrdcliffe Road, Woodstock, NY. See website for schedule. $20 adults, $17 students & seniors. (845) 679-0167 or www.woodstockfringe.org

It is a product of his lifetime love affair with these wonderful theatrical songs. He is a two-time winner of the prestigious Best Actor Award at the Ontario Drama Festival and the revue has won four awards including Best Musical Revue, Best Performance (Male) in a Musical. "Malcolm Gordon bills his program – ‘a light, bright fun filled evening’…this program lived up to its billing"… Off Broadway Review. Four performances. Four Performances. WOODSTOCK FRINGE presents "Two by Three by Three, an evening in two acts"

"For Sentimental Reasons" by Judith Moore. In this funny and moving memory play, we meet Priscilla, an African-American woman who is rapidly approaching Senior Citizen status. Pricilla invites us into her cheery kitchen where she recalls the shining hour of her life, when in 1961, her best friend, Rosalie manages to land two free passes to a Sam Cooke concert at the Harlem Square Club in North Miami. Wanda L. Houston plays Priscilla, fresh from her Broadway engagement in the Roundabout Theatre production of A Streetcar Named Desire. "Tuesdays & Sundays" by Daniel Arnold and Medina Hahn Inspired by actual events that occurred on Prince Edward Island, this beautifully poetic and haunting drama is set in rural Margate, Canada in 1887. Two teenage lovers awake in a sepia-toned limbo to reveal the course of their stormy relationship, from their first exuberant meeting at a New Year's Eve party through an unplanned pregnancy, from passionate embrace to tragic end. Five performances. Byrdcliffe Theater, Upper Byrdcliffe Road, Woodstock, NY. 8/31, 9/1, & 9/2 at 8pm, 8/3 at 5pm, 8/4 at 2pm. $20 adults, $17 students & seniors. FRIDAY 8/26 at 5pm MUSIC/THEATRE/PERFORMANCE ART

WOODSTOCK FRINGE presents "Songs for the Sane" by the perceval duo, Russell Podgorsek, violin & voice and Dennis Sullivan, percussion & voice. In truly avant-garde performances that are boldly energetic and wildly uninhibited, the perceval duo has created a unique musical/theatrical experience, using the voice in conjunction with instruments including objects that were never designed to be percussion instruments! Words are divided and contorted, and ideas are interrupted in a manner that often leaves the listener breathless. Underlying themes abound, and the virtuosity of these performers will dazzle everyone. Among the works performed is A Contest for the Future (based upon Bush's acceptance speech at the 2004 Republican Convention) and Songs for the Sane (a commentary about life inside an insane asylum). Byrdcliffe Theater, Upper Byrdcliffe Road, Woodstock, NY. 8/26 at 5pm $20 adults, $17 students & seniors. (845) 679-0167 or www.woodstockfringe.org
